The Nike KD 6 Texas brings back the 2013 colorway that looked to Kevin Durant’s one season with the Longhorns. Black and Urban Orange anchor the low-cut basketball shoe, with flecks of Green Glow scattered over the upper and midsole. Designer Leo Chang took inspiration from a starry Texas sky, using the speckled finish to give the colorway a second look after dark.

The University of Texas connection dates to the 2006/07 season, when Durant averaged 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds as a freshman. He reached double figures in all 35 games and recorded 20 double-doubles, a Texas freshman record. He also became the first freshman to win a major national player of the year award. The colorway arrived six years later, with Urban Orange recalling the school where he played his only season of college basketball.

An oversized Green Glow Swoosh cuts across the forefoot, where its scale draws attention to the KD 6’s low profile. Green speckles cover the black sections of the upper and continue onto the midsole. The visible heel Air unit and outsole carry the glow treatment as well. Durant’s glossy No. 35 logo marks the tongue, and his initials appear on the outer heel, outsole, and sockliner.
The retro keeps the original shoe’s lightweight synthetic upper and Flywire cables, which help secure the foot during lateral cuts. Chang developed the KD 6 with a thin, two-layer upper, and the tongue logo uses negative space to reveal both Durant’s jersey number and the model number. That detail dates to the original design, which took its cues from the small, precise components of a wristwatch.

Underfoot, a forefoot Air Zoom unit provides responsive cushioning, while visible Nike Air handles impact at the heel. The two units split the cushioning between the front and back of the shoe. A rubber outsole completes the setup with the KD 6’s layered hexagonal traction pattern, which carries over from the original basketball design.
Durant’s connection to Texas basketball also continues through a name, image, and likeness program he announced with the university and Nike in March 2026. Longhorns forward Madison Booker became the first Texas athlete in the program to receive access to exclusive KD footwear and apparel.

The Nike KD 6 Texas is scheduled to release November 17, 2026, through Nike SNKRS for $135. The Black and Urban Orange edition carries style code JF6986-001.
