The eyes tell a lot about your mood and bags under them could show signs of fatigue, stress, or even make you feel old. Allergies, stress, sun exposure, and a lack of sleep are some of the most common causes of bags under the eyes. It can also be due to fluid retention which can be gotten from a high sodium diet.

There are different means to get rid of bags under eyes, ranging from creams to medical procedures. The plexaderm review says a lot about how a small amount of cream could work effectively to clear out these bags. However, there are some home remedies you can try to help keep you fresh and alert, some of which includes:

1. Teabags

Caffeinated tea bags can be used to relieve eye bags due to the antioxidants in it that helps improve blood circulation. This gets more blood supply to the eyes, which also slows the aging process by clearing dark circles. Simply soak two tea bags for a few minutes and allow them to chill in the refrigerator. Squeeze out some liquid under each eye and let the tea bags rest on your eyes for at least 15 minutes.

2. Potato

The enzymes, vitamin C and starch in potato help nourish the skin around the eyes while reducing swelling and inflammation due to its cold temperature. You can refrigerate the potato before use to make it even more effective. Slice a raw potato into two and place on each eye such that it covers the puffy areas. Let it rest for about 20 minutes and observe the changes.

3. Cucumber

Cucumber has an anti-inflammatory effect that works effectively to reduce puffiness. It is also known for its high water content, which helps keep the skin hydrated, and cold temperature to reduce swelling. With two slices of cold cucumber sitting on your eyes for at least 20 minutes, you will notice a change in your eye puffiness and a generally improved blood flow.

4. Egg Whites

Egg whites contain collagen and protein which are both beneficial to the eyes. While the collagen helps clear out wrinkles, the protein improves skin elasticity, of which both work together to keep the eyes clear of aging properties. Whisk two egg whites to a smooth texture and apply it to your under-eye area. Leave it for at least 10 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.

5. Water

Staying hydrated could pass as an easier hack to staying healthy and at alert. The human body is made up of 60% water, which explains why drinking more water could help reduce puffiness. You can also infuse your water with fruits to give it a flavor that would make you want to drink more while gaining other health benefits.

Conclusion

Most cases of bags under eyes can be easily resolved with any of these remedies in a short while. However, if the eye puffiness begins to appear unusual, gets worse over time, or associated with itching and redness, it’s best you see your doctor.
