Nike has launched its latest collection from the Serena Williams Design Crew, celebrating the limitless potential of the next generation of designers. The collection, inspired by Serena’s childhood home of Los Angeles, highlights the creativity of a diverse team of design apprentices from the area. This initiative underscores Nike’s dedication to promoting diversity in design and advancing its athlete partnership model.
Comprised of a lifestyle sneaker and five standout apparel pieces, the collection showcases Serena’s passion for both fashion and sport. “I’m excited to continue my partnership with Nike and proud to provide emerging Los Angeles designers a platform to explore their craft and bring a touch of our dynamic LA edge to sport style in an influential way,” says Serena, who has worked with Nike since 2019 to develop the apprenticeship program.
The centerpiece of the collection is the Victory Tech sneaker, a fusion of the Tech Hera’s retro look and Serena’s modern sensibilities. The design pays homage to iconic Los Angeles architecture with its arch piece and lacing system, while gold accents add a touch of luxury. The sneaker’s sock liner nods to Serena’s early tennis career, with a motivational message from Serena inside the tongue.
Other pieces in the collection include a bold cutout tank top and loose mid-rise shorts, both featuring curved design lines inspired by a tennis ball. The collection also includes a short-sleeve top and mid-rise pants, drawing inspiration from baseball uniforms with vertical stripes and lightweight fabric for optimal movement.
Rounding out the collection is an oversized bomber jacket, blending varsity-inspired patches and stripes with modern materials that offer warmth without bulk. The jacket pairs perfectly with the rest of the collection’s contemporary yet athletic style.
The Serena Williams Design Crew fall 2024 collection will be available globally starting September 17 at nike.com and select retail locations.
