The exterior redesign of an extremely large casino/retail/entrainment and exhibition podium for the tallest hotel/casino in Las Vegas required balance and finesse. Working within the strict parameters established by program, with the most elemental means possible, to merge the sensibilities of podium and towers, crafted by 2 distinct architectural firms (SOM for the towers, and Steelman Partners for the podium layout and design). Multiple wood-clad elipsoid volumes define and organize programmatic elements as they penetrate through a pure rectilinear crystalline volume. Our design creates a cohesive logic for the massive assemblage that evokes the dynamic drama needed for the Strip-tecture but also exudes a unique sense of restrained elegance and much needed sophistication.
