Keeping up with the daily housekeeping can be extremely tedious, time-consuming and can build up really quickly if it is not completed. However, you don’t need to spend all of your time keeping your house clean and tidy. Rather than leaving everything to the last minute, there are a number of alternatives you can choose from to ensure your home is tidy throughout the week. From hiring a commercial disinfection company to building daily habits, the more you look into alternatives, the more you realize you don’t have to drag the hoover around your home for over an hour every week. Here are some key tips and tricks you can use you keep your home clean and healthy throughout the year.

Read more after the jump:

1. Start Your Day By Making Your Bed

Whilst many people believe that making your bed may actually be a waste of time, it can make a significant impact on your room and sets your day up for success. This process only takes a couple of minutes in the morning and will leave your bedroom looking extremely tidy. By completing this task first thing, you build a routine of tidying that will last throughout the day. If this is a new habit your building, make the process as easy as possible. Limit the number of sheets you use, especially if you don’t end up using many of them anyway. On top of this, you can also limit the number of pillows on the bed. Although 6 pillows on the bed may appear comfortable, they are only going to end up on the floor. Declutter your bed and put the pillows in a storage location. You can always get them out later if they are needed.

2. Complete A Nightly Cleanup

This small and relatively easy habit is a fantastic way to ensure your home is clean throughout the week. Rather than leaving your cleaning for a single day of the week, spend ten to fifteen minutes every evening completing a small clean up. While this can feel like a burden at first, the results will not only make your house cleaner, but will also make you feel happier as a result. Put a timer on and begin tackling all cleaning priorities. Clean your hobs and tables, disinfect kitchen counters and clean your bathroom. What you see as a priority can be completed. This is also a great thing to get the family involved with. Whilst you clean the kitchen, your children can clean their bedrooms, wash the dishes or fold the laundry. Make sure that the biggest mess is dealt with first as this will have the greatest impact.

3. Put Things Away

While this may sound like an obvious tip, you would be very surprised how much clutter is created by items left around the house. Whether you leave a teaspoon on the table, a pen and pad on your desk or a food wrapper on the sofa, small items can easily create clutter around your home. Get your whole family into the habit of putting things away once they have been taken out. This will help to save you more time when it comes to tidying up, as the clutter around the house will already be taken care of. This is extremely easy to implement and can make such a big difference around your home.

4. Hire A Commercial Disinfection Company

If you and your partner both work time-consuming jobs, you may not have the time to clean and disinfect your home. Rather than letting your home become a mess and potentially even harmful due to a build-up of bacteria, you can hire a commercial disinfection company. This can be scheduled weekly, monthly or at a time that suits you and can be provided around your daily routine. The company will make sure that your home is left absolutely spotless, cleaning and disinfecting each area to guarantee a perfect clean with each visit. Such an option is also a great idea for homes which are cleaned regularly. A visit every year will help to ensure your home is free from harmful bacteria with a professional clean to support your daily cleaning efforts.

5. Learn Which Areas Have The Largest Footfall

By learning which areas have the highest footfall, you can prevent the spread of mud and dirt throughout your house. Created a dedicated area that can be used for shoes and make sure all family and visitors remove their shoes before entering. By keeping this area clean, you prevent dirt and dust being walked into your home. If you have a pet, you can also keep a towel nearby to clean off their paws after a week. On top of this, you can also hoover these areas daily. This can become part of your daily cleaning routine and will significantly reduce your cleaning workload as the week goes on.

6. Sort Through Your Mail Everyday

There is nothing more frustrating than cleaning your home, only to realize that you have a tonne of mail to sort through. From mail and bills to school papers and catalogs, these items can build up very quickly when left unchecked. By the end of the week, you will find a huge pile on your table and feel too exhausted to deal with the issue. Rather than letting this build-up, deal with the problem from the very onset. Sort your mail as soon as it arrives and throw away any paper that is not important. Keep your bills in a sorter where you can quickly get access to them and throw all unwanted flyers in the bin. This simple process will save you significant time and hassle and will make you feel better knowing that its one less problem to deal with.

7. Use Doormats

It’s actually very surprising how much dirt a doormat can prevent from getting into your home. Buy yourself a doormat that fits in with the aesthetic of your property and watch the dirt disappear before it can even enter your home! This simple investment can really reduce the amount of hoovering required and will also ensure that no muddy shoes are walked through your clean floor!
