PUMA and Japanese streetwear label Liberaiders have joined forces for the first time to create a fresh and innovative version of the classic PUMA Suede. This collaboration, which reimagines the iconic 1968 Suede, is themed around the concept of “Destination Unknown,” symbolizing a journey into the unknown and the excitement of exploration. This partnership melds PUMA’s longstanding heritage in sportswear with Liberaiders’ distinctive and eclectic design, resulting in a unique sneaker.

The standout feature of the PUMA x Liberaiders Suede is its textured hairy suede material, a bold departure from the traditional smooth suede typically used on this model. This unique texture adds depth and character to the shoe, giving it a rugged, adventurous feel. The use of Liberaiders’ signature blue hue provides a striking contrast, ensuring that the sneaker catches the eye. Additionally, a paper crane graphic is elegantly placed alongside PUMA’s iconic leaping cat logo on the tongue, symbolizing peace, freedom, and the spirit of exploration.

Complementing the innovative exterior design, the collaborative Suede also features premium leather lining and metal lace tips, each with Liberaiders branding. The careful selection of high-quality materials and design elements underscore the commitment of PUMA and Liberaiders to producing products that are not only visually stunning but also functional.

The launch of the PUMA x Liberaiders Suede is followed by a campaign directed by Liberaiders’ founder, Mei Yong. This campaign pays tribute to the rich history of Beijing rock music, celebrating the legacy of the Rock’n’Roll spirit. Featuring Gao Qi, a pioneering figure in Chinese rock music, alongside contemporary musicians Ouyang and Huang Shaofeng, the visuals capture the rebellious and creative essence that defines rock culture.

Scheduled for release on June 8, 2024, the PUMA x Liberaiders Suede will be available at PUMA stores, selected PUMA retail outlets, and through retailers SOULGOODS and INVINCIBLE. This release marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and fruitful partnership between PUMA and Liberaiders, with plans for a full apparel collection set to launch next year.

The Japanese streetwear brand Liberaiders was established in 2017 by Mei Yong, who was born and raised in China and moved to Japan at the age of 20. Liberaiders’ designs are informed by a diverse range of concepts, including military surplus, travel, Rock’n’Roll, and photography. Driven by the mantra and mission of “create your own values,” the brand’s name is a portmanteau of “Liberate” and “Raiders.” Take a closer look at the sneaker in the Gallery below:
